I'm a cassette tape and turntable person, so it felt right to give this campaign a listening room.

Here you'll find my take on the issues in my own voice, podcasts I've made and ones I love, and a soundtrack for the Boulder I'm fighting for.

What I am listening to

Two great conversations with Rana Foroohar, Financial Times columnist and author of Makers and Takers. Her core insight: the financial sector makes up just 7 percent of the U.S. economy but takes about 25 percent of corporate profits while creating only 4 percent of jobs. She explains how decades of cheap money inflated an "everything bubble" in stocks and housing while wages stagnated and the real economy hollowed out. If you want to understand why today’s economy does not work for most people, start here.

If you are struggling to access the podcasts, here is a video with some similar talking points.

Below, David Harvey sums up what Rana Foroohar described in detail above, in one minute. The Foroohar interviews are outstanding, but if you only have one minute, you’ll get the gist below. This matters for Boulder as our leaders continually seek big capital to solve our problems, rather than seeking to support small, local enterprises.

Chuck Marohn walks through three ways of seeing the housing crisis: supply, demand, and the Strong Towns view that grapples with “dark finance” and capital flows. He explains why campaign-style wins and single-variable fixes rarely deliver real affordability. The episode closes with a candid update on recent leadership changes and how Strong Towns has restructured its media work over the past year.
